Powerful Printing Control over Diverse Documents

(1) The PDF file itself:

The PDF file could be the issue. It might be corrupted or password-protected. If you download it from teh web, try downloading it again. If it was sent to you, ask for it to be resent. When saving, always copy the file directly to your computer's hard drive to prevent corruption.

(2) Software and driver problems:

Next, check your software. In your PDF viewer, confirm you've selected the correct printer and not a "print to file" option. Try printing the PDF as an image. It's also wise to update your printer drivers and your PDF reader software.

(3) Printer and connection issues:

Finally, check your printer. Make sure it's on, properly connected, and has enough paper and ink/toner. Also, look for any error messages on the printer itself and try clearing the print queue.

Adding a "PDF printer" means enabling a feature that allows you to "print" any document to a PDF file instead of a physical paper copy. Here's how to generally do it across different operating systems:

(1) Windows: Windows 10 and 11 have a built-in "Microsoft Print to PDF" option. If it's not there, you can navigate to Settings, click Apps and then Optional features (or "Turn Windows features on or off").

(2) MacOS: MacOS automatically includes a "Save as PDF" option within its print dialog. Just look for the "PDF" button when you go to print any document.

For advanced features like security or merging, install third-party software such as PDF Agile, which will then add their own virtual PDF printer to your system.

(1) Use printer settings: 

After opening your PDF in PDF Agile and going to print, access your physical printer's "Properties" or "Preferences."Look for options like "Borderless Printing" and enable it if available. Also, ensure "Page Scaling" is set to "None" or "Actual Size." Keep in mind that not all printers support true borderless printing.

(2) Crop within PDF Agile: 

Open your PDF in PDF Agile and use the "Crop Page" tool (often under an "Edit" or "Page" tab). Draw a box around the content you want to keep, effectively removing the white margins from the file itself. Save the cropped PDF, then print it as usual.

For automatic double-sided printing in PDF Agile, your printer must support the feature. Here's how to do it:

(1) Open PDF in PDF Agile: Launch PDF Agile and open the document you wish to print.

(2) Go to Print: Click the "Print" icon, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+P (Windows) / Cmd+P (Mac).

(3) Enable Double-Sided: In the print dialog that appears, look for and check the option labeled "Double-Sided Printing".

(4) Choose Binding: Select the desired binding type: "Flip on long edge" (for a book-like orientation) or "Flip on short edge" (for a calendar-like orientation).

(5) Print: Click "Print" to send your document to the printer, which will then automatically print on both sides.
